Easter Hunt

Who knew Easter could require brain activity?

All my life I had to hunt for something on Easter - eggs, baskets, whatever.  It's a tradition that is still going on in our house every year.  Each year as the 'kids' get older, I try to ramp up the clues - how many there are - how difficult they are to find, etc.  This year, I thought it would be funny to require the use of the internets and post 2 clues on my blog.

Taylor Clue:
Halfway there already?  It's been too easy so far - time to step it up and raise the bar.
You will have to follow these directions very carefully:
DVD's in the drawer can be numbered starting at the back left with #1.  Your next clue is in DVD#:

Y = 4x - 24

Where Y = 4^2 + SQRT(484) - (3^2 - 5^2) + (7 * 5 * 2)

Nadia Clue:
Good thing no one reads my blog or people would be texting you clues!  These clues can be tough, and sometimes rough.

So far you have searched dog food, your trunk, the freezer, the internets, and so much more...I can't wait to see what else is in store.

Getting help can put a smile on your face - next clue is hidden in the book case.

harry potter lego

Who knew you could actually kick tail at a game?

After a few hours, a lot of searching levels, and tons of sweat and tears, Jaimie and Taylor completed Harry Potter Lego...and here is the proof...

8th grade

Who knew it's already time for school to start?

It's tough to dwell on this, but not only do I have a 13 year old, I also have an 8th grader...sigh.

Here is a pic of Tay on the first day of school...only a million more to go before the year is over...yahoo!

class of '94 (and kev hoffman)

Who knew your high school friends could still be some of your closest?

This is the crew that got me through middle school, high school and college...and I still LOVE seeing them any time we go back.  It was also Jeff's birthday while we were out there so it was great to be able to celebrate with him as well.  I should probably throw a special shout out - and thank you - to all the guys parents in the second picture.  There were at least 4 years or so when we would be at one of their houses - and they always took great care of us.  It really was great to see the gang again - I'm already looking forward to the next opportunity to see them again...

Thanks to Ben, Becky and family (pictures in a previous post) for housing us in Rochester.  Thanks to Jeff and Jodi for hosting us in the cities, and Bryan and Jane for having the crew over for dinner.  Thanks to everyone for taking time to visit with us, play basketball with me, and just let us be part of the crew again for a few days, it was amazing.

our 'little' dog

Who knew rescuing a pet from the humane society may mean that you don't get a pure bred?

Our little tiny puppy named dizzy is now 13 pounds which doesn't sound like much but is about 4 pounds over her breeds 'max weight.'  We are all sure she grew more while we were in Minnesota as well.  She is still as spunky as ever - and we are still working through some issues with her.  She is fun at times though, and does love to give kisses and cuddle.  Here are some pictures of her and her latest adventures.

And here is how she thanks us for giving her a bath...

summertime

Who knew summer break could be more tiring than actually having stuff to do?

Wow...wow...we are tired...it has really been a crazy summer - we haven't had a free weekend for the last 2 months...literally. We have had a lot of fun during the last 2 months for sure - just looking forward to September when we can get a free weekend or two.

We have already had 2 yard sales, Taylor had a play, we had a bachelor party and wedding, visited Cleveland to see Christina's play, had Taylor's birthday...and that's just off the top of my head.

Here are a few more pictures of our incredible summer...only a week and a half left to cram the rest in before school starts.

Nana Karen helping at the yard sale (couldn't have done it without Jaimie's Dad and Karen for sure - they made it a great event).

Trinity working hard for us at the yard sale.

minnesota

Who knew a place could still feel like home even though you haven't lived there in 11 years?

Going back to Minnesota is always something I really love - not only do I have a lot of really great friends there, it really does feel like home. We started in Rochester visiting friends for a few days then went up to the cities - and driving through Bloomington (where I grew up) always feels good inside. I even gassed up at the station that I learned to pump gas, drove by my old house, drove by the Toys R Us where I got my first job, and had the chance to play basketball with some high school friends.

It's been a wonderful trip so far - here are a few pictures.

Bowling with Ben, Becky, Bailey, Phoebe, Abbye, Micah, and us.

Jeff and I at Target field - went to see a Twins game in the 'new' stadium.

My classic lunch...so good.

teenager

Who knew time really does fly?

Last week Taylor turned 13 so we are now officially parents of a teenager. Sigh.

She had a great time hanging with her friends - and so far hasn't changed much at all - just as lippy as ever...ha.

Here are some pictures of her birthday...

Birthday crew - Laura and Trinity, Kayla, Jessica and Lake with Dizzy.

still dizzy

Who knew having a puppy could be just as much fun as going to the dentist for a root canal?

Ok, so maybe not that bad - but having a now 4 month old in the house has made for about 6 weeks of interrupted sleep. Things are going better and we are seeing some improvements and steps forward - problem is that they are generally followed by a few steps back. Some things are getting better, but then we just add new problems - like digging many holes in the back yard, or not coming when she is called and wanting to be chased all around the backyard when all we want to do is go inside, or waking up every morning at 5:30AM and barking for the next 2 hours to let us know she's awake - just in case we didn't know.

She is a great puppy and we are still very glad we got her (most days). Here are some pictures of her with Trinity and also sleeping next to me. She does love to sleep in very odd positions at times, which is cute and hilarious. I'll see what I can do to get some other pictures of her up here so you can see her various exploits.

take my kid to work day

Who knew work could be fun? All it took was about 30 kids running around for a day...

So a few weeks ago, we had 'take your kid to work day' here at Ford. It's the second year I was able to bring Tay with me and I really enjoyed it. They had activities for us to do, games to play and food. It was a good time...here are some pictures of the event:
